On-line Testing and Editing
This is a relatively untouched area, but one that we consider is very important.
On-line testing would involve things such as the testing of course notes for people studying on-line, or testing on-line training manuals and programs. Educators and program co-ordinators need to make sure that the material does the job it's supposed to do and that students can follow the set tasks without complications. To achieve this, they need to be actually tested by someone who has the experience but can operate at "arm's length" in that they are not familiar in advance with the material. This would involve working through the actual material as a student would, but checking for clarity and making suggestions for improvement along the way - ie, making sure it all works properly.
We would also be happy to do editing and proofreading work on off-line materials such as books, articles, magazines, and so on.
On-line editing is similar but involves the editing of notes, articles, website materials, and so on. Often, one comes across spelling errors and structural shortcomings in such material. Some people seem to accept lower standards in web-based material than in other media, but this does not have to be. Web-based materials can be presented correctly and without glaring grammatical and spelling errors. This would essentially involve proof-reading the required work and making sure that it met our high standards in presentation and correctness of language.
Again, we have a lot of experience in these areas. Our background includes years of teaching experience, particularly in English. During this time, we had read and corrected many student papers and assignments, proof-read many articles and booklets, and generally developed a lot of expertise in finding errors and correcting them. One of us is also a multimedia tutor, and has been involved not only in doing an on-line course himself but has also been asked to test some of the courses for clarity and accuracy. Similar testing work is currently being carried out for an Australian multimedia organisation.
If you would like us to get involved in any of these areas of your behalf, you can reach the relevant people through the "Contact Us" page.
